Class 2
Welcome to Class Two!
Class Two is where the children in Year 1 and Year 2 learn and strive to be ‘the best they can be’ and their learning is supported by Miss Clapson (Class Teacher) and Mrs Sellers (Teaching Assistant).
Sometimes Year 1 and Year 2 children learn all together in one group, and at other times we learn separately. We also have a wonderful outdoor learning area where topical role play is found based on the terms history or geography topic, further writing and math opportunities and learning challenges are found. We are very fortunate at St Martin's to also have access to a wonderful 'Forest School' area, which Class 2 pupils love to explore!
Homework is set each Friday, tasks are linked to the learning which has taken place in class that week - sometimes it will be a creative tasks, a written task, mathematical task or something practical. Sound videos that correspond with our Phonics scheme 'Read Write inc' are sent to help support their in school learning. We encourage all children to read at home as often as possible, aiming for a minimum of three times per week.
Each week, one pupil from Year 1 and one from Year 2 are chosen to receive a Head Teacher's Award, in recognition of their hard work, positive attitude or for displaying one of our Church School Values - resilience, love, courage, respect, hope and wisdom. We invite parents to join us when the certificates are presented on Friday afternoons at 2:45.
PE days for Class 2 are Thursday and Friday with our dedicated First Step PE coaches.
